IBC, PT TKDN Tbk, and Sinoron Establish Strategic Partnership for the Development of Swap Battery-based Electric Vehicle (EV) Ecosystem in Indonesia

IBC, PT TKDN Tbk dan Sinoron Jalin Kerjasama Strategis untuk Pengembangan Ekosistem Kendaraan Listrik (EV) Berbasis Swap Battery di Indonesia

Jakarta, PT Teknologi Karya Digital Nusa Tbk (PT TKDN Tbk), China Hualong International Construction Corporation (Sinoron), and PT Industri Baterai Indonesia (IBC) today announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of a swap battery-based electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Indonesia.

The partnership will focus on developing an electric vehicle network, including battery-swapping facilities and other supporting components and infrastructure.

This partnership marks a significant step in both companies’ efforts to support the energy transition towards a more sustainable future.

PT TKDN Tbk will play an active role in developing a fleet network of electric vehicles for public transportation in Indonesia. IBC will provide high-quality battery supply and support the development of battery infrastructure, including battery-swapping facilities in various strategic locations in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Sinoron is committed to significant investment in developing electric vehicles that suit the needs of the Indonesian market by bringing its global expertise and advanced technology.

David Santoso, President Director of PT TKDN Tbk, stated, “The partnership with IBC and Sinoron is a strategic step for PT TKDN Tbk in accelerating the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia based on swap batteries.

By combining PT TKDN Tbk’s expertise and experience in IoT technology systems in the transportation industry, IBC’s capabilities in battery production and Sinoron in the development of electric vehicles (EV), we are confident that we can bring more sustainable, environmental friendly and efficient first-mile to last-mile mobility solutions for the people of Indonesia.” David also conveyed the commitment of the companies that signed this MoU to fulfill the Domestic Component Level requirements.

As a form of synergy, PT TKDN Tbk will receive Preferential Rights as the primary distributor to establish an efficient and rapid swap battery-based electric vehicle network. The goal is to develop a fleet of at least 5,000 electric vehicle (EV) units within the first three years and a minimum of 10,000 units within five years following the launch of the first EV unit.

This initiative will also include other necessary support systems aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles using swap battery technology in Indonesia.

Mr. Reynaldi Istanto, Director of Institutional Relations at PT Industri  Baterai  Indonesia, added, “We are very excited to collaborate with PT TKDN Tbk. This partnership is part of IBC’s contribution to supporting the development of the electric vehicle (BEV) and battery energy storage (BESS) markets in Indonesia and will strengthen IBC’s position as a parent investment company focused on  the  development of  new  energy  materials that  are essential for economic growth  and the downstreaming of the integrated battery industry as well as the electric vehicle ecosystem.”

With this collaboration, IBC and PT TKDN Tbk is optimistic that they can play an active role in achieving the government’s target of reaching Net Zero Emissions by 2060, by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia.

In addition to its benefits in reducing carbon emissions, the implementation of this new energy ecosystem will also create new markets through the downstream production of nickel batteries by IBC, as well as open new opportunities for domestic industries and job creation through the localization of this industrial ecosystem.
